why can't i learn to lie?

so scrubby asked me about my story with D, and i couldn't lie. told him the story with as many details as i could remember. luckily, it does not appear that i have scared him away. in fact, he was very sweet about the whole thing. :)

but it begs the question - should i have lied? wouldn't that make me just like D? i certainly think so. and i am NOT a psycho, therefore, i could not lie.

i have to come in this weekend for a little bit to put together some papers for service on tuesday. but i also think that means i get to court on tuesday - so. dist. no less. yay! so, i need to get a mani, buy some date clothes, buy a pair of boots, see K, go to ikea, and get ready for my date. oh, and go to the post office, pick up my laundry, and drop off my dry cleaning. i think there's more - i just can't think of it right now. thank goodness monday is a holiday.

Hey, I think you should do whatever feels right. If you are comfortable telling someone, you should, but if you don't want to disclose the information just yet, little white lies never hurt.

i think you should feel completely guilt-free telling the person that it's a really long complex story and someday, when you feel he's ready, you'll tell him. either that or say it in a nutshell - turns out D was insane and not who you thought he was. and then say that you'll tell him more later. someday. or whatever.

Just kidding. I'm a lawyer too-I don't need to lie about my personal life, I get enough of that shadiness at the office.

Actually, you should reveal enough of your history as you comfortably feel sharing. Sometimes that's a bit scary for a guy, sometimes it's an over-share, and sometimes it helps us understand you better - depends on the guy and the story shared. I hope whatever/whoever "D" was to you is an old story and closed wound.
